For nearly 30 million Americans, a bad flu can cost them their job.

This is a win-win-win policy, and yet we can’t get it passed at the federal level. But it is emblematic of how many easy wins are out there. Paid sick days not only keep people and whole cities more healthy, they keep people in their jobs. And because their employment isn’t disrupted, they earn more.
